2009 SEA Games

The 25th Southeast Asian Games is scheduled to be held in Vientiane, Laos, in 2009.
Two white elephants which symbolized Laos once "the kingdom of million elephants" (Lan Xang) were chosen as the official mascots.

The names of the elephants are Mr. Champa and Ms. Champi represent the national flower of Laos (Plumeria).

清晨五点多就起床

与家人享用早餐后

就到极乐寺八角亭

见证全球最大的八角亭落成典礼

今天是极乐寺三大庆典周日隆重举行

1）白圣上人圆寂20周年纪念追思会

2）极乐寺庆祝118周年纪念

3）极乐寺观音圣像八角亭落成礼

这是目前世界最大的八角亭

而那16根石柱也具有特色

这个巨型的八角亭高达91公尺

支撑它的是16根中国进口的青岩石柱

每根柱又以8个石圈组成

柱上雕著具有佛教色彩的图案

观音像及八角亭整个工程一共耗资了7000余万令吉

仪式开始时，先颂唱三宝歌，

后进行升彩球，联合剪彩仪式

大会放生118只和平鸽，祈求国泰民安

大会邀请了

泰国、缅甸、寮国、柬埔寨、斯里兰卡僧王出席盛会

参与者仍包括各南北藏传高僧及长老

此外，大会也邀请

槟城首长林冠英

首相署部长丹斯里许子根博士

房屋及地方政府部部长拿督江作汉

首相署部长丹斯里许子根博士拨出100万令吉的首相署特别拨款予极乐寺

我当然也拍了很多照片

与大家分享这历史性的一幕

也和槟城首长官车拍照留念

记得，2005年当负责槟城老人院开幕时

也曾经与它合照

现在的它，还是它

但，主人已换了

换了槟城人所称的“观音”冠英...嘻嘻！！

Pillar engraved with the Buddhist colour patterns
An octagonal pavilion of the whole project cost a total of more than 7,000 million ringgit

与蛇共舞

蛇庙

蛇庙又叫青龙庙，原名“清水庙”，已经有一百多年的历史。名叫福兴宫，山门刻“青云岩”，供奉清水祖师。
传说1795年佛诞时，青蛇进庙偷吃香客供奉的食物，驱之不去，越聚越多。
蛇庙香火常盛不衰，因而成为马来西亚十大名胜之一。
在寺庙旁边的翼室，有当地人缠拿着大蟒蛇供人拍照，与蛇共舞，惊险刺激，不妨一试...嘻嘻！！！

Snake Temple

The temple is dedicated to a deity called Cheng Swee Chor Soo. Cheng Swee Chor Soo is known by the Hokkien as Chor Soo Kong and by the Cantonese as Chou-See Yeah. Both names basically mean the same: "The much honoured Chor-Soo".
The Snake Temple original name was the "Temple of the Azure Cloud" in honor of the beauty of Penang's sky.
